Novelrunner presents a structured and methodical approach to novel writing, employing a storytelling framework reminiscent of serialized television. This unique perspective often enhances narrative engagement by allowing writers to consider pacing and episodic elements in their work.

With the release of version 2.0, Novelrunner+ subscribers now have the added benefit of an AI writing critic and editor, accessible via an OpenAI API key. This feature enables users to receive insights and suggestions that can refine their writing process.

Upon initiating a new project, users input key details including:
<ul>
 <li>Title</li>
 <li>Genre</li>
 <li>Word Count (suggested based on genre, with options for customization)</li>
 <li>Pace (defines the speed at which the plot progresses)</li>
 <li>Color (to visually represent the project)</li>
</ul>

This information allows Novelrunner to generate a tailored project template that includes an appropriate number of "Episodes," each with specific word count targets. Achieving these targets facilitates reaching the overall novel word count.

An episode consists of scenes, mirroring the construction of a compelling television narrative. Effective episodes drive the plot forward while delivering satisfying story arcs, encouraging readers to continue through the novel in a similar manner. Writers are encouraged to contemplate their characters' journeys and the narrative hooks that compel readers to turn the page.

The consistency of episode length is essential, akin to the standard durations in television programming—typically 30 minutes or an hour. Uniformity in length helps maintain reader engagement and prevents momentum loss in storytelling. Novelrunner offers suggested word count targets for episodes; however, adjustments are permitted based on creative needs.

Once the manuscript is complete, Novelrunner provides an export option in RTF format for further editing and chapter division. This flexibility allows authors to personalize their final work as desired.

The platform also supports iCloud synchronization, enabling seamless transitions between different devices such as iPhones, iPads, and Macs—enhancing user accessibility regardless of location.

By subscribing to Novelrunner+, users gain access to unlimited projects, diverse color themes, advanced creation tools, and analytical insights through graphical representations. The integration of AI analysis further enriches the writing experience by evaluating prose quality, grammar, readability, and overall engagement effectiveness.
